The Fred Winter Centre Jobs Fair attracts 150 local people seeking new job opportunities

Last Friday, 10 June, The Fred Winter Centre hosted its second local jobs fair.

Organised by DWP, one of the partners in the Fred Winter Centre, the jobs fair attracted 150 jobseekers.

Jobseekers had the opportunity to meet 17 employers all with vacancies in Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding areas.

The employers came from several key sectors, including hospitality, health and social care and construction. There were also three support organisations in attendance to offer additional skills training and support.

Many visitors who attended the event came away with formal interviews and training places secured, and some with jobs.

The job fairs at the Fred Winter Centre have been so successful that DWP plan to organise more in the coming months.

Notes to editors

The Fred Winter Centre in Guild Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, is designed to bring together services which help the most vulnerable and will see Stratford Foodbank, Springfield Mind, Citizens Advice and Job Centre Plus all take up residence.
The centre will provide affordable accommodation to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, as well as on-site support with breaking the cycle of repeat homelessness.
